283
The 283 the car came with when I bought it, coming out with the cast iron Saginaw 3 speed
Setup 1
This was the "crook engine" I spoke about in another area of this Website. Through the years I experimented with multiple radiator/electric fan setups. This one worked, as long as you do not get stuck in traffic.

A custom made radiator, made to fit 4 ten inch fans; 2 stayed on constantly, and 2 were controlled by a thermostat. The current draw was so much, I had to install a bigger alternator. The gray one in the pic was a 100 amp unit. This setup never really worked out so well either; the armature of the 100 amp alternator was so heavy, I was throwing belts at high RPM.
Setup 3
Acquired another radiator somehow, and installed this single ducted fan, with its own thermostat. It worked OK, but once the water temp went up, it took a long time to cool down.
Crook Engine
Here is a better view of the "crook engine", with a Muncie hanging off of it. Looks can be deceiving. It is because of the poor performance, for what I paid for, that caused me to build all of my engines myself.
Side note- the Electric- motor driven water pump setup (with the belt) is best left for the Track cars only. I tried that too. Want to buy it?

A few years ago I was going to install a BBC into the car. I notched the firewall, which is normal to do in order to install a BBC in a Tri-Chevy. Then I quickly ran out of money to finish it. I wound up selling the short block on Ebay.

The engine was blueprinted and built to specs similar to one I sold a customer back in my Dyno days. I had it from another car (customized 1952 DeSoto, hope to have a website for it too).
Here there is a solid fan, rated to 8000 RPM. We will see about that one day. Please visit the Fan Shroud page.
